Beacon & iBeacon

A beacon is a small radio device that transmits signals to the surrounding area at preconfigured intervals, which can then be received by other smart devices, as a means of exchanging data and information. If positioned accordingly, it is possible to localise people or devices, determine one's own location, and evaluate routes. Beacon technology can also be used to navigate enclosed spaces.

A smartphone app is used to analyse the information from the beacon. The data received can also be used to offer the user a range of services. It is not necessary to create a Bluetooth connection between the smartphone and the beacon. It is possible to receive signals from different beacons consecutively, if they are in range.
